Skiing in Finland has similarities to skiing in Norway in that the Nordic opportunities are vast with hundreds of miles of trails. The national obsession is with Nordic cross-country skiing and is a strongly growing sport throughout the country.
Like Norway there are some great downhill ski areas too, not with big vertical but with excellent terrain, packing a lot into a smaller area. The Finnish topography is typified by fairly isolated hills, giving an amazing sense of space when on the slopes and trails.
