| FRANCE/SWITZERLAND – Grand Traverse of the Jura |
A fabulous journey across the Jura mountains on cross country skis.
LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE
| |
In 1978 the Grandes Traversees du Jura, or GTJ, was completed and is a long distance ski trail across this part of France and Switzerland. |
| |
Lying very close to Geneva, the Jura are steeped in history, geology and gastronomy and it’s system of valleys & mountains go on for miles, but unlike the jagged peaks of the Alps being more of the 'Nordic rolling' variety. |
| |
Each day we aim to cover around 20 km's of the route on cross country skis while carrying a very small day pack. Each night we arrive at our hotel or auberge to find our luggage waiting for us – luxury! |
| |
This is a great trip which gives a real sense of making a journey on skis. Despite its popularity it's not unusual to ski all day without seeing any other skiers. |
| |
A perfect early season cross-country village-to-village tour with comfortable, beautiful days and great skiing. |
