ABOUT: Off-piste Adventure weeks

Off-piste Adventure weeks include an exciting and challenging mix of coaching on- and off-piste (typically 3 x ½ days, the first 3 mornings of 5 days skiing), skiing long off-piste itineraries in the afternoons and day or part-day tours. The exact mix varies from week to week as each venue has its own character with different goals; all weeks will use uplift as much as convenient/appropriate to our plans and all participants will need full safety gear and climbing skins. Full information in the Trip Details – some venues have an option for a 6th day of coaching and/or leadership.

ABOUT: Off-piste Total Adventure

Off-piste Total Adventure weeks are similar to the OPA weeks but coaching is more 'along the way' on an 'as needed' or 'by request' nature. This allows us to devote even more time to skiing and exploring all day, completing long off-piste itineraries and day or part-day tours. As such all skiers need to be skiing consistently at the required standard and at pace that reasonably matches others in the group of this standard. Skiers need to be more self-contained when it comes to use of technique, skiing within a group, skinning skills, transceiver skills, etc.

High altitude, snow sure off-piste for all aspirations and abilities; plenty of adventure skiing ... and even more at nearby Sölden if need be!

MACEDONIA OFF-PISTE EXPLORER:

A skiing road-trip through Macedonia! 7 days skiing, 6 ski areas and touring mountains – plus loads of hospitality and culture in between.

SVANETI (Georgia):

Fantastic off-piste skiing and touring in the Caucasus; 2 ski areas, plenty of off-piste and tourer friendly terrain and a rather dramatic backdrop!

CERVINIA (Italy):

Explore the amazing variety and quantity of off-piste challenges throughout the extensive Cervinia / Zermatt ski area.

GARGELLEN (Austria):

A superb up and coming 'freeride' destination with hidden off-piste gems, mini-tours and lots to explore.

LES CONTAMINES (France):

One of our most favourite off-piste venues! Plenty of 'freshies', no queues, lots big vertical from the uplift, easy access tours ... and everyone smiles!

Costs are for full days of coaching and leadership.

Note: These courses are suitable for both Alpine (downhill) and Telemark skiers and are run as mixed courses – we ensure that both Alpine and Telemark skiers receive complete and appropriate attention and time. This link gives more info on how this works.

• An off-piste and ski tourers paradise at over 1800m, right on the edge of the Oetztal range.

• High altitude means very reliable snow conditions with easy access to a big range off-piste runs at Obergugl and the linked area of Hochgurgl ...

• Off the top of the lifts are ski itineraries and tours in all directions, with trees, gullies, bowls, etc. – and remarkably few other off-piste skiers.

• Easy access to some wonderful ½ or full day tours – and if we need more to go at, Sölden is just around the corner with some very long and very enticing runs!

• Don't expect a vibrant nightlife, do expect plenty of skiing!

• And excellent accommodation with very good food!

Macedonia backcountry skiing, Macedonian off-piste

Exploring Macedonian off-piste: a 700m descent
into a valley with no other tracks!

• 8 nights in Macedonia with 7 days of off-piste skiing and day touring. A 'road-trip' as an excellent way to see and ski some of the best 'off the beaten track' venues in the country.

• We will also visit several National Park areas and UNESCO World Heritage sites in the western and southern areas of Macedonia – plenty of adventure skiing as well as being scenically and cultural rich.

• 4 days with lift-served off-piste and 2 of those with sno-cat assisted touring; a unique approach to extending our range and skiing where no others go to ski.

• 3 days ski-touring including skiing on the borders of Albania, an ascent of Mt Korab (2757m), and the beautiful lake-side mountains of the Galichica National Park.

• Our last 2 trips to Macedonia shows that the country has some of the best adventure skiing potential in Europe – come, before everyone else does!

• Short transfers from Skopje airport, half-board hotel accommodation and our own transport to add to our flexibility.

SVANETI: (Georgia) 'Off-piste Total Adventure'

• 7 nights in Georgia with 5½ or 6 days off-piste skiing and day touring in the Svaneti area of the Caucasus. A real change and escape from the busy Alps – skiing as it used be, where Europe ends and Asia begins!

• Svaneti is on the southern side of the central Caucasus overlooked by some of the most dramatic peaks (over 5000m) and glaciers of the range.

• There is a huge amount of off-piste and touring terrain and also two ski areas to use on bad weather days and/or to access off-piste runs and itineraries.

• The area is rich culturally and probably most well-known for the fortified towers and stone houses that characterise the villages. Georgian hospitality and food is renown and their wine-making skills go back 8000 years!

• Direct flights from Luton to Kutaisi; optional return via Tblisi with 2 or 3 days experiencing the history and culture of the capital.

• Option to travel on to join the Macedonia Off-piste Explorer week (see above) and have an extraordinary 2+ weeks of exotic skiing!

• At 2100m, nestling below the dramatic Matterhorn, Cervinia lies at the centre of a huge 'freeride' region.

• Huge variety of terrain and slope aspect means we can expect to enjoy powder, reliable early season snow, faces, gullies, trees – the lot!

• A superb uplift system allows quick and easy access to some 'top notch' adventure skiing.

• Because off-piste snow conditions in December can be too shallow, the 'Off-piste Adventure' is a day-by-day 'add-on' to the 'Off-piste Performance' courses running these weeks.
